Baby rice puffs from 9 months

Small flower-shaped brown rice puffs in four flavours, 40 g a bag, for babies from 9 months who can pick up food and are learning to chew.

In English: breast milk is the best food for the health and all-round development of young children. This product is a complementary food, eaten alongside breast milk, for children over 6 months. Little Blossom Organic Brown Rice Puffs are for babies from 9 months and are not for babies under 6 months. Imported by, and responsible for the product in Vietnam: All Asia Connect Co., Ltd, 6th floor, Me Linh Point, 2 Ngo Duc Ke, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Little Blossom baby rice puffs are small flowers of puffed brown jasmine rice, made for babies from 9 months. Around that age many babies grab the spoon and want to feed themselves from the tray. Parents then look for something easy to pick up, mild in taste, with an ingredient list they can read in one go.

Below are the ingredients of each flavour and the difference between the 40 g bag and the 4 g mini. After that comes how to offer puffs safely and keep them crisp in humid weather.

Little Blossom: Baby rice puffs from 9 months

Five questions to ask before buying baby rice puffs

  • Is your baby old enough. The bag says 9 months and up, for babies who already eat textured food, sit steadily, hold food themselves and are learning to chew.
  • What is in them. Brown jasmine rice, corn flour, rice bran oil and the fruit or vegetable powder of each flavour. The bag states no added sugar, no added salt and no preservatives.
  • What if solids are still new. The bag suggests mixing the puffs with a little milk to soften them. Once your baby chews well, serve them dry.
  • Which pack goes where. The 40 g bag stays in the kitchen and is resealed after each snack. The 4 g mini is one snack, sized for the nappy bag.
  • How long they last once open. Finish a 40 g bag within 30 days of opening so the puffs stay crisp. A mini pack is opened and eaten in one go.

How the four flavours and the mini pack differ

All four flavours share a base of brown jasmine rice, corn flour and rice bran oil. Only the fruit or vegetable powder changes. The table follows the ingredients printed on the bag.

FlavourIngredientsPack
Apple and broccoliBrown jasmine rice, corn flour, rice bran oil, apple powder, broccoli powder40 g
StrawberryBrown jasmine rice, corn flour, rice bran oil, strawberry powder40 g
Sweet potatoBrown jasmine rice, corn flour, rice bran oil, purple sweet potato powder40 g
PumpkinBrown jasmine rice, corn flour, rice bran oil, pumpkin powder40 g
Strawberry miniSame as strawberry4 g, single or as a bundle of 10 minis

Pick apple and broccoli if your baby already eats greens in congee. Pick pumpkin or sweet potato if your baby is used to pumpkin congee or mashed sweet potato. Pick strawberry if your baby leans towards fruit over vegetables.

The 4 g mini has the same ingredients as the strawberry bag. Choose it if you are often out with your baby. Each pack is one snack, so there is no half-empty bag going soft in the nappy bag.

Offering puffs safely

Sit your baby upright in a high chair, and always have an adult sitting with them while they eat. Never give puffs while your baby is lying down, crying or running around. Do not leave your baby to eat alone, even once they are good at picking up food.

The first time, put a few puffs on the tray and let your baby pick them up. If chewing is still new, soften them with a little milk, as the bag suggests. Wait until your baby has swallowed before adding more.

Puffs are a snack between meals. They do not replace a meal of congee or cereal, and they do not replace breast milk.

When a bag of puffs makes the day easier

It is breakfast and the congee is still too hot. Your baby is already in the high chair and getting restless. A few puffs on the tray keep small hands busy while it cools.

On vaccination day, or a visit to the grandparents, two minis go into the nappy bag. When you arrive, sit your baby down before you open one.

At home, the small flowers get picked up one at a time from the tray. You can see how many have gone, and the tray is quicker to wipe than spilled congee.

Keeping puffs crisp in humid weather

Store the puffs in a cool, dry place. After opening, clip the bag shut or tip the puffs into an airtight container. Finish them within 30 days of opening so they stay crisp.

In the damp northern spring, or the rainy season in Saigon, an open bag goes soft quickly. Keep it away from the rice cooker and the kettle. The shelf life is 18 months from manufacture, and both dates are printed on the bag.

Frequently asked questions

From what age can babies eat rice puffs?

From 9 months, as the Little Blossom bag states. Your baby should sit steadily, pick up food on their own and already be used to textured food. The product is not for babies under 6 months. It is a complementary food, eaten alongside breast milk, not instead of it.

Can my 7 month old eat these puffs?

Not yet. The bag says from 9 months, so we suggest waiting until then. Babies learn to chew at different speeds, and your baby’s paediatrician is the person to ask about the weaning plan. At 9 months, soften the first puffs with a little milk.

Do the puffs melt in the mouth?

The bag does not say they melt in the mouth, so we do not claim it. It says the puffs have a mild taste, are easy to eat and are made for babies learning to chew. For a baby new to textured food, soften them with a little milk first.

Can my baby choke on rice puffs?

Any finger food can be a choking risk if a baby eats while lying down, crying or running around. Sit your baby upright, always stay with them and offer a few puffs at a time. If your baby does not chew well yet, soften the puffs with milk first.

How many puffs can my baby have a day?

The bag does not give a daily amount. Puffs are a snack between meals and do not replace a meal or breast milk. At home, start with a few on the tray and let your baby decide when they have had enough. When you are out, one 4 g mini is one snack.

My baby has allergies. Can they eat these?

Check the ingredient list first. The puffs contain only brown jasmine rice, corn flour, rice bran oil and the fruit or vegetable powder of each flavour. If your baby has reacted to any of these before, ask your doctor first. The first time, give a small amount and watch your baby that day.

Where are the puffs made, and are they genuine?

Yes, they are genuine. Little Blossom is a Singapore brand and the puffs are made in Thailand. All Asia Connect is the official importer and distributor in Vietnam and ships from its warehouse in Ho Chi Minh City. The international name on the bag is Organic Brown Rice Puffs.

Pick the flavour closest to what your baby eats now

If your baby likes pumpkin congee, start with pumpkin or sweet potato. If greens are already on the menu, try apple and broccoli. If you are out a lot, add the bundle of 10 minis for the nappy bag.
