Signs your baby is ready for pants
There is no fixed age. Con Cưng and Long Châu both mention about three months, when babies start rolling, wriggling and kicking. In Vietnam, Rascals pants start at 6 kg. Rascals gives more concrete signs:
- Your baby will not lie still for a change.
- They tug at the diaper or try to take it off.
- The tabs of a tape diaper no longer fasten at the hips.
- They are learning the potty, or can pull their trousers up and down.
One or two of these is enough to give pants a try. You need not switch day and night at once. If tape works well overnight, keep it for sleep.
Diaper pants sizes: which size for which weight

The sizes overlap by a few kilos, so a 14 kg toddler fits both L and XL. In the overlap, Rascals says to go with the lower size. Toddlers grow fast, so buy one box at a time.
Changing a baby who is standing up
Putting them on. Crouch to your baby’s level, guide one foot into each leg hole and pull up to the waist. The UltraFlex 360 waistband has more than 15 pieces of elastic, so it stretches as you pull and hugs again when your baby sits. Then pull the leg frills out and adjust for a snug fit.
When it is only wet. Slide it down like ordinary pants.
When it is a poo. Do not pull it down over the legs. Tear both sides and lift it away from the front. Roll it up and wrap the tape on the back around it before it goes in the bin.
All three work while your baby holds on to the sofa or heads for the door.
Up and down: a first step towards the potty
Rascals designs the pants to go up and down like underwear, to help the move to potty training. Your toddler practises pulling them down when they need to go and back up afterwards.
Every child gets there at a different age. Sizes XXL (15 to 20 kg) and XXXL (17 kg and up) are for the stage when your child runs about but still needs a diaper.
CoComelon and the other packs
Regular packs hold 30 to 58 pants depending on size. Buy one when your baby has just moved to pants and you want a week or two to check the fit. The Rascals pants size L, 52 pack is for 10 to 15 kg.
Super Jumbo boxes bundle three regular packs together. Buy one when the size is settled, such as the M box of 3 × 58 for 6 to 11 kg.

Convenience packs hold 14 to 20 pants in M to XXL. Buy one when your baby is between sizes or for a trip to the grandparents, like the XXL convenience pack of 14.
Staying dry through a busy day
Crawling and running shift a diaper more than lying down. The waistband hugs all the way round. The four-layer Hydrolock core, deep pocket and triple leak guards hold the liquid when your toddler plonks down on the floor.
Against the skin, the AirSpun layer feels soft and lets air through. Rascals states the materials are hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and free of lotions, latex and fragrance. On muggy or damp days, Long Châu suggests some diaper-free time each day to let the skin breathe.
If your baby is under 6 kg
Rascals pants start at size M. A baby under 6 kg, or one who still lies down a lot, is better off in Rascals tape diapers for newborns. Size M covers 6 to 11 kg in both ranges, so you keep the same size when you switch.
